7 Weeks: Mar 10 - Apr 25

Finding Safety inYourself

Recover From Stress And Trauma Through Somatics & Nutrition

You don’t have to heal all of your trauma to live a beautiful life.

Joy, anxiety, pleasure, grief, and sadness can exist inside of you without taking over when you learn how to relate to these sensations and emotions. You don’t have to get rid of anything to find safety & peace.

What does it mean to

release stress & trauma?

Traumatized and overwhelmed bodies are not broken or defective — they’re actually working overtime.

Our bodies are exhausted by chronic bracing from holding onto past traumas and expecting future ones.

The body associates bracing with safety so we are attracted to foods, people, and experiences that keep us constricted and stressed out.

Living in chronic constriction makes the body believe it’s experiencing a potential threat at all times.

My work will teach you how to befriend the body and become its guide so you can slowly release constriction. And this is what healing trauma really means:

developing the ability to be in the present moment without bracing.

From this new state your food habits, behaviors, relationships, and health will completely transform.

‘‘

Practicing with Luis' guidance felt like a huge exhale after a lifetime of holding my breath.

I've gone through lots of shifts personally and professionally these past 2 years while working with different coaches and practitioners. Throughout this time, I've felt that what I learned from Luis has been truly foundational and timeless.

$600 one-time payment, or $165/mo. for 4 months.

Words of love.

…from course participants.

This work is about…

becoming friends with your body.

I teach this work through the lens of animism. I see the body as a sovereign being with its own desires, instincts, memories, and needs.

Learning how to relate to the body as a being flips the script entirely because I no longer identify with what it’s doing.

I’m no longer anxious or traumatized. Instead, I’m aware that my body is holding anxiety and trauma within it.

Being able to witness and relate to my body means I get to be its friend, its guide, and its parent.

I spent so much of my life making my body work for me until it burnt out and got really sick.

Now, I get to live with my body and it feels like a loving relationship with a friend instead of an object I make work for me.

‘‘

A wonderfully insightful set of teachings and practices - a complete nugget of gold - delivered with sensitivity, humor, generosity, and a genuine sense of warmth.

After twenty years of working with trauma healing in different modalities, this course has been life-changing. I would recommend it to anyone willing to do the work.

What You Will Be Learning Weekly

7 weeks to learn, a lifetime to practice.

Week 1:

The Biology Of Trauma & Safety:

Learn how to speak the Language of the Body

You will learn what happens in the body during a traumatic event.

We will also explore the biology, felt sense, and expressions of stored trauma, survival, safety, and peace.

You’ll learn how to experience safety by developing an embodied connection with the ‘self’ —

the foundation for a physical state of safety that isn't dependent on outside variables, but through connection to the safety that's already inside of you.

Week 2:

The Quiet Diet

How nutrition affects our healing & stress levels

We will learn how certain foods & food rituals can turn our trauma responses and stress levels up or down.

Integrating somatic nutrition brings a biological balance that gives your body support to take on this trauma healing work.

Learn to gently nudge your body away from adrenaline spikes and triggering substances with somatic nutrition - so that you can make room to attune to the biological state of peace and appreciate its gifts.

Week 3:

How We Relate To Our Stress

Techniques to move stuck trauma & stress in the body.

Regulation is just another way to describe a relationship. Learning how we relate to our stress through devices, foods, and people begins to map out which rituals and habits of ours build our capacity and which numb us out and lower our capacity.

We learn the difference between co-regulation and co-dependence, as well as the innocence and sophistication of our coping mechanisms — as well as new ways to find safety and not just cope.

Begin using somatic practices to work with sensation in your body, and replace unhelpful patterns that ‘numb’ agitation with a life-serving body based toolkit.

Week 4:

Integration Week

During this integration week, we will take this time to review the first 3 weeks and notice what’s landing and what is not.

We will explore this in a 90-minute integration call with 30-minute breakout groups at the end.

We will also offer a live sound healing to help your body “feel” more than think. This pause is helpful before diving into the next 3 weeks.

Week 5:

Our Subconscious Bodies

Learn to create a more loving relationship with yourself.

We will explore how the body IS the subconscious. It holds meanings, thoughts, beliefs, and memories that are not conscious to our minds. These create a biology of stress and imbalance.

Learning how to use sensations as a doorway to the body allows us to communicate with our subconscious somatically without drudging painful experiences backing up.

Feel into the experience of finding balance and safety within your own body.  We will often ask the question: “Am I attuning to peace or stress?”

Our focus on self-inquiry means that this work is fundamentally self-led. You will go at your own pace while listening to your desires and capacity.

Week 6:

Meaning Creates
Our Biology

How our thoughts & meanings impact our physical bodies.

We learn how meaning becomes both an identity and a way of being.

We learn how to use triggers to our benefit, uncouple stressful meanings from daily events, and build our capacity for joy and pleasure.

Through an active study of the mind-body connection, you will begin to recognize how to transform old triggers, uncouple stressful meaning-making from daily events, and build your capacity for joy and pleasure.

You will spend time learning how to notice when you’re co-regulating with the world around you, or co-dysregulating with it.

Week 7:

Self-Regulation

Developing the Practice of Self-Relating for a lifetime.

After exploring the body and the mind, we will deepen our understanding of releasing trauma and stress from our bodies through specific exercises that prompt self-regulation:

The life-changing ability of finding balance and safety within your own body.

yet so simple…

‘‘

I didn’t know what I was getting into when I signed up…

… to join Luis’ holistic healing circle I just knew that my body was craving more after having listened to him speak for just an hour.

What I’ve gained from these sessions cannot be paid back in any monetary way and the value goes beyond a lifetime of experiences.

I feel I’m at a place now where I can safely move on with my life after receiving the tools and countless hours of attention from Luis.

I was a bundle of nerves when I first started and as someone who has a lot of trauma with speaking up and using my voice I was scared about being amongst a group of strangers and talking about just that.

But there is such an ease, such a presence that Luis had that I was comfortable being in a group of strangers sharing our stories our pains our traumas and ourselves with each other.

As someone who did more witnessing than speaking I still found immense value in being immersed in the original 6 week program, the 6 additional weeks and even now in our continued circle which has gone on 6 months now. With that I just felt the sting of hot tears in my eyes itching to fill them.

There aren’t any words that would do justice for how I feel after participating in this group with Luis. I will forever be grateful to him and this experience I’ve had the privilege to have.

Your guide & teacher

I am Luis Mojica, a Somatic Therapist & Educator.

My body began healing itself of chronic illness when I was 16 years old through whole foods alone. I went onto study & apprentice in whole food & herbal healing and began helping people manage their PTSD, anxiety, and chronic health issues with diet alone through my private nutrition practice.

Then, in 2015, I discovered somatic therapy & went to the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute for a 3 year immersive training to practice Somatic Experiencing.

This lineage of holistic trauma healing gave me words and practices for what was always something I understood intuitively but didn't know how to speak or teach. It has since become the foundation of my work & my life.

To meet the growing need for my work, I started this course so that people could begin working with their own trauma by learning how to listen to their bodies themselves. It's an incredible and affordable way to begin the journey now.

For more information on me and my work, listen to the first episode on my podcast: how I transformed my trauma into a gift and then into this work that I do. This course is just one of the many gifts I have had the pleasure of sharing with you.

You’ll also have the support of our small but mighty HLN team.

The 7-Week
Course Costs:

The cost of this course is $650 and can be paid with a one-time payment or through a payment plan of $165/mo. for 4 months

‘‘

Thank you, Luis Mojica, Camille Leak, Marika Malaea for bringing these practices and teachings into the world in this way and making it accessible to so many who would otherwise never learn of it or be able to afford it.

  • The next 7-week course begins is between March 10th and April 25th.

  • This is an understandable and common fear. Because these classes are recorded, you can pace yourself based on your capacity.

Some people find that they need the support of a professional while taking the course, others just need more time.

This work doesn't promise safety, but it does give you many tools to cultivate your capacity to feel the things inside of you that seem scary and impossible to feel.

  • The course is capped at 500 and we usually have 80-150 people attend the live sessions, while others follow along via replays due to timezones, work schedules, or capacity.

  • The program is designed as a foundational look into trauma healing - we don’t go into specific areas, such as sexual trauma, or eating disorders etc.

Each individual brings their subject to the course. It’s created as a container to teach from the body — and then whatever is in your body, in your experience, you can bring to the Wednesday discussion and practice circles, or bring to the online conversation. I will speak to those questions and work with more specifics.

But the course itself is a foundation for teaching how we relate to trauma (regardless of what kind) inside of your body.

  • That’s why I got into this work. Somatic work doesn’t need context to the subject matter. It was created to help people who didn’t have context.

Whether it’s ancestral trauma, intergenerational trauma, pre-verbal trauma, we may not have firm memories, but we do have all the residual symptoms of these events.

Whether you know about it or not, this course is designed to hold it.

You will still get the same result - relationship building with that part of you, with or without context.

  • One thing I want to stress is that these 7 weeks are not therapy.

We’re using some real life material so it will be personal and apply to you absolutely - but if you’re in the midst of some serious hardship or trauma, dealing with daily panic attacks or even suicidal ideation, any kind of edge that feels too overwhelming to handle, I always recommend having someone who can do this with you.

    Whether it’s a partner, a mentor, a therapist, a doctor, or coach.

If you're new to somatic work, getting in touch with your body can be big and intense. You might want additional support.

Traumahealing.org is where you can find a practitioner to work with 1:1, and many students have worked with a private practitioner while taking the course.

  • Hundreds of people who experience dissociation have gone through this course without any problems.

There is no guarantee of how you will emerge from this space, but you are definitely welcome here.

  • Of course. I felt much the same when I began this work. I like to remember that what trauma equals, is stored threat.

The state you were in during the event gets stored in your body. When you’re doing this work, you actually begin to feel it, and that can be incredibly scary at first. The community inside of this course, as well as the support from me and my team, PLUS the exercises and work, are so solid that most people have felt very safe and held through the 7-weeks.

If this is a fear though, we want you to have some safe space you lean on to work with what comes up, one on one, with a partner, friend, or therapist. If you’re currently looking for support from a somatic experiencing therapist please visit the directory at traumahealing.org.

  • No. I am trained Somatic Experiencing Practitioner but these 6-weeks are not therapy.

They are teachings of the tools I have learned and developed so that you can apply them to your life and your own healing work

  • Yes! In my experience with somatic training and work, it rarely delves into nutrition and animism. Understanding trauma healing through relating, ancestry, or how certain foods can activate a trauma response is very different from the way we typically see somatic work in our institutions.

If you have a ton of experience with trauma, somatic work, nutrition, self-inquiry, and animism, this will be fun for you but you probably won’t learn a whole lot of new information.

That being said, you may find it fun to connect with me, learn more about my perspective/practices, as well as be in community with the rest of the cohort for a few weeks.

  • Absolutely! You’ll be able to integrate some of these tools into your own practice depending on the particular needs of your clients. We’ll make connections between trauma, somatic work, nutrition, self-inquiry, and animism that are typically not addressed, and many of your clients have probably never considered.

  • Every person who takes this course will enter it having a different journey of relating to their body. For anyone having trouble connecting to their bodies or if they become overwhelmed by sensations, there is a reason for that -- we just don’t have the resources or capacity to be with it at the moment.

We have structured the course so that you get all these tools and resources in a download. As a result, you can show up, learn the information cognitively even if you can’t implement it immediately, and then you can practice the exercises over the following days, week, or months. You will then begin to find your capacity steadily increases at its own rate – some people have a breakthrough in the very first class while I’ve also gotten emails from participants a year after their cohort ended saying they were able to make a connection or they felt something shift in their body.

  • Absolutely! I have ADHD and we’ve had many participants with mild to severe Autism or participants with ND kids. I find this work to be even more important for those who are ND because some forms of neurodivergence are expressions that come from an overwhelmed nervous system, i.e. a high sensitivity to sensation. Since this course focuses on rehabilitating the nervous system and building capacity, we’re indirectly working with expressions of the nervous system as well.

That doesn’t mean we get rid of the neurodivergence. Instead, we learn how to relate to those expressions better as well has how to shift our nutrition or coregulate with our environments to find safety, which lowers our charge.

  • We’ll exclusively focus on nutrition in Week 2. But it is only one tool of many we’ll explore in the course. If you’d like to dive deeper into nutrition work, you can join the waitlist for the next Embodied Nutrition group.
